Tottenham head into the weekend with a two point lead at the top of the Premier League table, having won eight of their 10 league matches so far this campaign.

Ange Postecoglou’s side head into Monday night’s London derby having won four matches on the trot following their 2-2 draw at the home last season’s runners up Arsenal in the North London derby, most recently last weekend’s 2-1 win at Crystal Palace.

Spurs have a perfect record at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season with four wins out of four so far, which inlcudes wins over Manchester United and Liverpool, and will back themselves to extend that winning run on Monday night under the lights.

They take on a Chelsea side fresh from their Wednesday night Carabao Cup triumph over Championship side Blackburn which saw them through the quarter finals, a positive reaction following their 2-0 defeat at home to Brentford in the Premier League last weekend.

Last week’s defeat saw Mauricio Pochettino’s side slip back into the bottom half of the table, where they lead 16th place Nottingham Forest by just two points, though the Blues are only three points behind Manchester United in eighth.

Despite their struggles this season, the West London side have only lost one of their four away matches this season, including winning their last two, so can take some confidence into Monday night’s game.

Monday’s match will also be the first time that Blues boss Pochettino will have come up against Tottenham having left the club in 2019 after a five year stint which included taking the North London club to a Champions League final.

Pochettino has lost all three of his previous matches against Tottenham though, all coming while in charge of Southampton prior to his spell in the North London hot seat.

Tottenham won the last meeting between the two sides but that victory back in February was their first since a Carabao Cup fourth round penalty shoot out victory in 2020, seven meetings prior, during which time they’d been on the losing end on five occasions.

Chelsea hadn’t lost a league game against Tottenham since 2018 before the match earlier this calendar year, spanning eight games, and have won on three of their last four away visits to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
