Nottm Forest v Sheff Utd preview

Both teams kicked off the Premier League season last weekend with defeats.

Nottingham Forest fell to a 2-1 defeat at last season’s runners up Arsenal, going 2-0 down in the first half before Taiwo Awoniyi scored off the bench to halve the deficit.

Steve Cooper’s side’s home form was a large reason behind their Premier League survival last season, as Forest lost only twice at home post-September, and won their last three at the City Ground to ensure their top flight status.

The Welshman will be hoping to carry that home from into the new season and pick up three points from Friday night’s encounter.

Last season’s Championship runners up Sheffield United fell to a 1-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend in their first match back in the top flight after two seasons in the Championship.

Paul Heckingbottom’s side have lost a number of their first players from last season this summer, either through player sales or expired loan deals, leaving many predicting an instant return to the second tier.

The last time these two sides met was on the Championship play-off semi final back in 2022, with each team winning 2-1 away across the two legs, with Forest winning the shootout 3-2 to book their place at Wembley where they secured promotion.

Cooper and Heckingbottom have met on three occasions before, with two, with the results all square with one win each.

Nottm Forest v Sheff Utd betting tips

With a potentially tentative affair expected with both teams seeing Friday’s game as a fantastic opportunity to get their first three points on the board, it could be a low scorer.

BetVictor have boosted the odds for Nottingham Forest to win 1-0 up to 11/2.

A similar bet has also been boosted but for those expecting to see the Blades find the back of the net for the first time this season, with Forest to win and both teams to score now up to 18/5.
