Manchester City v Bournemouth preview

Manchester City head into Saturday’s match having won their last three matches, a promising response having previously lost three out of four games which saw them lose their place at the top of the Premier League table.

Sunday’s 3-0 win over neighbours Manchester United in the Manchester derby last week means Pep Guardiola’s side jump back up to third place in the league, level on points with Arsenal and just two points behind leaders Tottenham.

The Etihad has been a fortress for last season’s treble winners this calendar year, with Manchester City having won all 21 home games they’ve played in all competitions since the turn of the year.

Bournemouth make the dreaded trip to the Etihad on Saturday having lost four of their last five games following their Carabao Cup fourth round exit to Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Andoni Iraola’s side have won just one league game all season, though that did come last week as the Spaniard’s side got the better of newly promoted Burnley to lift the Cherries out of the relegation zone.

The result took the Dorset club up to 17th in the table, a point clear of the bottom three as they look to become the first team in 2023 to avoid defeat in an away game against Manchester City.

History doesn’t bode well for the Cherries, with the south coast club having never defeated Manchester City before, drawing two and losing 17 of their previous matches against the Citizens.

Guardiola has won all 11 of the matches he’s managed against Bournemouth.

Manchester City v Bournemouth betting tips

bet365 themselves have put forward a 12/1 bet builder tip which consists of Manchester City scoring in both halves, win to nil, and for Erling Haaland to score a header.

Last weekend saw Guardiola’s side score in both halves of last weekend’s 3-0 Manchester derby victory, in which their Norwegian striker also scored a header, his 13th goal of the season, while City have just conceded just twice at home in the league all season.
