Chelsea vs Liverpool predictions

Chelsea could be the dark horses of the competition this season, with their new transfers and squad looking more structured after too many were within the first team towards the end of the 2022/23 campaign, they could be more fine tuned and playing in a way set by Pochettino that could punish teams in this league.

Liverpool do have the quality and the consistency of the last few years behind them under Jurgen Klopp, and they’ll also be reaping the benefits of Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo of having a full season behind them, which is very valuable in this league.

Add to that their couple of signings and departures they could also be a big threat this season.

But it all depends how their opening few games get going, which for Chelsea, who finished 12th last season will have to improve massively, making Liverpool the safer bet this time around.

Chelsea vs Liverpool betting tips

Chelsea to win – 9/5

This is a tricky game to call, as it always is with Chelsea and Liverpool. But more so given the two teams arrive here in very different states after the summer transfer window and also their form from last year’s Premier League campaign.

Chelsea finished all the way down in 12th and are almost priced as such against an experienced Liverpool squad, with only a couple of alterations to their starting XI from last year.

The Blues on the other hand, could be coming into this filled with confidence, they have a new manager even more new players and a fair few departures as well.

That said, they could be well priced to get something from this and a draw or Chelsea win holds the value, especially with a home advantage.

The Blues would have been even more fancied to win had they not had injury troubles with their new star goalscorer Christopher Nkunku.

But Nicolas Jackson has been performing well as their front man in pre-season, netting against Newcastle and Brighton in the Summer Series.

And the new recruit from Villarreal looks set to get off to a good start for Chelsea in a new league as an instant hit.

Both teams to score and Chelsea win or draw – 7/5

One thing is for sure and that’s the amount of chances both sides should get.

As it’s the opening game of the season neither side will want to squander or concede an easy goal, but with the talent both teams have at their disposal, goals should be imminent.

Mohamed Salah didn’t score many as he usually does last season but could easily get his tally back with a visit to his old side.

While Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez have a years experience behind them in this league now which can help a huge amount towards their second season haul.
