Chelsea vs Liverpool predictions
This will be a very difficult game for both sides who come into this as unknowns in the league.
Liverpool will be expected to once again challenge for the top four while Chelsea are also looking to improve on their dreadful 12th place finish last season.
New recruits and departures for both teams, but two experienced managers at the helm make the two balance out. However, either side could be much better prepared and well gelled than the other.
Chelsea vs Liverpool betting tips
Salah to score – 9/1
Mohamed Salah has scored in Liverpool’s opening Premier League for Liverpool in each of his six seasons.
His tally has reached eight in those six games which is a joint record and makes him even more fancied to score at Stamford Bridge.
Salah’s attained 18 points from 12 games against Chelsea with four wins and six draws occurring when he plays the Blues in the league.
In those 12 games he’s netted four and assisted twice.
Match result: Draw – 12/5
Liverpool finished last season on an unbeaten streak amounting to 11 league games, with seven wins.
This is actually the longest current run without a defeat for any side in the competition, beating both Man City and Arsenal who both have very recent losses in the Premier League.
Liverpool’s run started with a 0-0 draw, also at Chelsea, which is the only time they’ve failed to score in those matches.
Liverpool haven’t lost their opening Premier League game in any of the last 10 seasons (W8 D2), since a 3-0 loss at West Bromwich Albion in 2012-13 under Brendan Rodgers.
But Chelsea also have a strong record on the first matchday, as no teams have won more in the Premier League with a tally of 20.
Similarly, Pochettino has won five of seven of their matchday one games when in charge of Premier League teams, making this game an incredibly tough call, and a draw looks more and more likely at a great price.
