[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] CHANEL has gone full colour for spring – we’re more used to a gentle merging into brights – you know, take spring in small steps with maybe some pale pink or peach – but make up artist Valentina Li has brought an unexpected Mediterranean twist to traditionally subtle spring. I have a couple of eye palettes that I’ll review separately but I’ve made good use of the Abyssal Blue Stylo Yeux Waterproof that I probably wouldn’t wear quite in that way but in order for you to see the colour, I’ve gone all in.
I’m kicking off with the lip colours – I think I’ve found AT LAST an acceptable alternative to Rene Pink in Rouge Coco Baume in Coralline. It’s not the same exactly but it has the same vibe and brings out exactly the same happiness to my face. In the picture above, left to right, it’s Rouge Coco Baume in Anemone, Rouge Coco Baume in Coralline, Rouge Allure Laque in Sea Star and Rouge Allure Laque in Sea Shell.
So this is the whole look – I’m using CHANEL CC Cream SPF30, the Roses Coquillages blush (swirled to get both colours on one brush), Mermaid Glow highlighter (on cheeks), Abyssal Blue on the outer rims of my eyes and Rouge Coco Baume in Anenome.
And THIS is Coralline! I love it. I’m wearing glasses because I wanted you to see how good Abyssal Blue is behind them. The Rouge Coco Baumes are £34 HERE (I’ve linked to Sephora for ease but I think their colour chart isn’t quite accurate – but I know I’ve got them right so ignore the very light looking Coralline shade they’re showing).
This is Rouge Allure Laque in Sea Shell, a rosy beige that suits me better than I thought it would. Rouge Allure Laque is a satin, full pigment shade that is water resistant. If you need a colour that doesn’t need much attending to throughout the day, Rouge Allure Laque is your gal. There are twenty shades. Take care though while applying – you need to give it a moment or two to ‘set’ and in those moments, keep your lips away from your teeth because it can transfer.
This is Sea Star in Rouge Allure Laque in brick red and it’s stunning. See what I mean about the teeth though? You do need to take care. Once it’s dried on the lips, teeth are not an issue – I was in too much of a rush today :-). The Rouge Allure Laques are £37 each HERE.
I’m not a big fan of a powder blush but CHANEL’s are always creamy rather than dusty and the duo-tone of Roses Coquillage can be used individually or swirled together like I have in the pictures. Together, they give a flush of warmth to the skin but you can take your pick on any individual day whether you feel more rosy, more peachy or a bit of both. It’s £60, which is a lot for any blush but it’s a limited edition created by Valentina. It’s not actually in stock currently at Sephora but is available on the CHANEL website HERE. I don’t usually give split stockists but I know that Sephora gives rewards so if you have any, you could use them. The Mermaid Glow is a whole other level of iridescent skin sheen – it’s an absolute stunner with a pearly pink and gold shift. Don’t just use it to highlight your cheeks – lids, lips, shoulders, shins – put it everywhere you can! Mermaid Glow is £38 at CHANEL HERE.
So, here we go with the swatches from bottom to top: Rouge Allure Laque in Sea Shell and Sea Star, Rouge Coco Baume in Anemone and Coralline, Abyssal Blue Stylo Yeaux and Mermaid Glow. I’m not listing Abyssal Blue stockists because nobody’s got any. Damn you, TikTok :-). Is anything taking your fancy? I’m surprised by the lip products – none of them look in their containers as they look on the lips – I thought Coralline was going to be far too bricky and yet, it’s turned out to be my favourite thing this year.
